S Korea: Majority Want U.S. To Maintain Troops

Despite growing anti-American sentiment among young South Koreans in particular, a majority of the nation's lawmakers want to maintain the status quo of U.S. troops on the Korean Peninsula.

Of 237 lawmakers who responded to a survey by The Korea Herald, altogether 146, or 61.6 percent, wanted to keep the number of U.S. troops at the current level.

But 81, or 34.2 percent, said they think more U.S. soldiers should be pulled out. Only four liberal lawmakers said the troops should be phased out of the Korean Peninsula while six had no response. ... FR Reprint.
